Germany’s Social Media Team

At the ANM in Riga there was interest in how the German social media team works. Let's have a small look into the planning and execution it took to get there

The idea of a social media team was put into place at the annual Network meeting in Germany. There was a non-official Instagram account that had been used regularly for promotion but there was no strategy or no team behind it yet to have constant postings.

They had been the input before to eventually have like a working group for that topic, but this was never implemented by organizers. Now it finally worked when EuroPeers implemented them that themselves.

People who were interested in creating the German social media on Instagram came together in a Zoom call to talk about the strategy: who has access to the social media, what shall be posted, what is the idea what is the aim of those posts and who is the target group.

Then a Google Drive was created with a timetable where people could put their shifts in responsibility of the social media. This is important to ensure that the mental load is not only with one person.

In der annual Network meeting in September there was great interest from other networks in how we organized it.

For the last half year, the social media team has been working well. People within the network know where they can send their content about activities that they get published.

What is important, is that you have enough engaged people who are still engaged after a while.

Finding teams, having a common platform to talk (which is signal in Germany), and sometimes meeting up to talk about strategies, who does what, where is it going, and how can we help activate other countries’ social media presence.

This is the national approach of EuroPeers Germany towards the topic but I’m also an advisory group representative for Germany and I have been working in the communication group.

We approached very achievable goals: first having socials again to have people connect.

Now for the next half year the advisory group will come together in a big communication group where working groups will be built for a certain specific topic for certain specific occasions.

The next task will be to ask ourselves what the social media strategy will be next to also create posts and articles for this website to fill it nicely.
