European Youth Driving the Future of Europe / French EuroPeers at the EYE

Strasbourg, the Beating Heart of European Youth

On June 13 and 14, 2025, Strasbourg welcomed nearly 10,000 young people from across Europe for the European Youth Event (EYE). Over two days, the European Parliament transformed into the beating heart of European youth, energising the city with discussions, workshops, and meetings that created a space for young people to voice their opinions and present concrete proposals for the future of Europe.

From the very first hours, the atmosphere was electric. The Parliament’s halls buzzed with animated discussions in multiple languages, with impromptu debates and participatory workshops exploring ecological transition, ethical artificial intelligence, social inclusion, and human rights.

People often say young people aren’t interested in politics. That’s not true. We want to make a difference, in our own way,” shared Yanis, 22, active in an association in Strasbourg, as he observed the enthusiasm and wealth of proposals around him.

Quality Discussions, Concrete Proposals

What stood out at EYE 2025 was the quality of the discussions. Conversations were open, sometimes passionate, yet always geared toward finding practical solutions. Far from scripted speeches, the young participants balanced idealism with pragmatism, presenting projects related to climate action, fundamental rights, and digital transformation.

The best proposals were compiled into an official report handed over to Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), affirming the direct link between young people and EU decision-making bodies.

For Alice, a civic service volunteer and EuroPeers, the event exceeded all expectations:

It was incredible to meet and exchange with young people from all over Europe. It was also an opportunity to speak directly with MEPs and build a bridge between European institutions and young people.

This enthusiasm was shared by Clara, a member of a European youth network and EuroPeers, who highlighted how participating in debates alongside engaged young people and European representatives strengthened her belief that collective action can truly influence tomorrow’s decisions. The event also strengthened the EuroPeers network, a European youth network where young people who have experienced mobility programmes share their stories, inspire others to seize European opportunities, and actively contribute to building a more connected Europe.

A Vibrant Demonstration of Youth-Led Change

Throughout these two days, Strasbourg became a space for democratic experimentation, where artistic performances, idea battles, and civic theatre workshops allowed everyone to express themselves, learn, and build connections across borders. These moments served as a reminder that European youth are not mere spectators but active agents of change.

For those who could not attend, it is still possible to catch up on the event highlights and revisit key discussions on the official event platform.

EYE 2025 will be remembered as a vibrant demonstration of the energy, creativity, and commitment of a new generation ready to build a Europe that is more inclusive, sustainable, and attuned to the realities of its time.

See you at the next edition of the EYE. Until then, Europe will continue to draw inspiration from the boldness and determination of its youth, who are committed to shaping the future of our continent.
