Moi!

A Finnish national training was held in Piispala Youth Centre, Kannonkoski from 6th to 8th October 2023. There were a little bit over ten people overall and we learned and had awesome time together!

A bit about our training:

For some of us, it was the very first Europeers training, and for others they had had multiple ones already. We got to share with each other about our own experiences in Erasmus+ projects and ESC’s.

We also got to hear about all the youth programmes of EU and a little taste of German network told by a German Europeer in Finland.

Almut, a German EuroPeer that is currently doing her Erasmus semester in Finland joined the training. She shared her experiences from the German network with her Finnish peers.

There was a lot of talk about what you can as a EuroPeer and we had a chance to think about what we want to promote as EuroPeers with our activities. In our discussion we came across many important values in the EuroPeer network: like belonging to a network and bigger community of volunteers and being okay with your imperfections in the context of programmes.

Because it was an intense weekend, we needed something to relax so we got to do handicrafts. As a result our a creative process, we designed beautiful and colourful canvas bags and t-shirts that serve as memories from this amazing weekend. In the evening we had some nice time together and some of us went to sauna. Of course, because if there is a Finnish event, then there is a sauna!

See one of the EuroPeer artists after having painted the canvas bag with the official logo.

On Sunday we planned our (first) EuroPeer projects. When doing so, there was this atmosphere that felt like bubbling inspiration. Writing this very text is my first project. Many of us were also interested in promoting the European programmes in student conferences and we thought of going to do school presentations as well. There are many ways of being active as a EuroPeer, so everyone can find a way.

The food was delicious and the place and nature so beautiful as the fall was in full peak! It was amazing to build a little community of EuroPeers and feel connected. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and can’t wait to be part of this on an international level in the future as well.
