Finnish National EuroPeers training – Becoming a EuroPeer
Introduction, planning activities and networking in the scenic town of Virrat, Finland
On 6–8 June 2026, the Finnish EuroPeers network gathered at the Marttinen Youth Center in Virrat for the long-awaited EuroPeer training. Surrounded by lakes and summer flowers, the setting was perfect for sharing inspiration within our network.
Bringing together both newly joined and more experienced EuroPeers, our group received a basic introduction to becoming a EuroPeer. We learned more about European Youth Programs and got to know each other in a casual surrounding. The key focuses during these intensive training days were supporting each other as peer educators, sharing best practices and learning how to use our own experiences to inspire other young people.
During the training, we attended a workshop to reflect on our past experiences within youth programs. We also shared our views on the challenges and knowledge barriers we had faced along the way. While planning activities together and taking promotional photos for our channels, it felt truly important to meet as a group face-to-face.

On top of the educational activities, we enjoyed the fantastic surrounding lakes by going on a rowing boat trip and swimming in the refreshing waves. Sauna and singing were, of course, part of the last evening, right after we tested our skills at the minigolf course.

Our motivated, newly-trained Finnish EuroPeers are now ready to spread the word of European Youth Programs with plenty of ideas and inspiration. After the training, we shared our takeaways from the weekend. According to Elisa from Tampere, sharing our life-changing stories and international experiences can truly inspire someone else to take a chance and try international volunteering.
Let’s share that inspiration forward!
