Europeers France and the ecological transition

As a EuroPeer, Nina had the opportunity to take part in a training course focused on ecological transition and the European Solidarity Corps. This year’s edition was guided by the theme of the sea and the ocean — a fitting metaphor for diving deep into the complex currents of environmental challenges and collective action.

The training unfolded in three stages: two days of online sessions, followed by an in-person week that brought together around thirty participants. This face-to-face gathering was especially enriching, as it allowed the participants to explore the topic in depth while connecting with key stakeholders who are actively shaping the European Solidarity Corps — from Erasmus+ Agency representatives to mission-hosting organizations.

Throughout the training, the participants navigated several key objectives:

  • Understanding the environmental impact of projects and exploring practical solutions;

  • Examining the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and learning how to integrate them into our initiatives;

  • Discovering inspiring tools and practices to reduce the carbon footprint of our activities;

  • Engaging with other committed actors to spark collaboration and collective momentum.

Together, they reflected on the small, everyday actions that, drop by drop, contribute to a larger ocean of change. They shared educational tools designed to raise awareness among volunteers about ecological transition and built bridges between environmental consciousness and civic engagement.

For Nina, the highlight of the event was undoubtedly the Ocean Collage and the 2Tonnes workshops, both of which encouraged them to step back and consider the broader impact of their individual and collective choices on the climate.

She left the training inspired and motivated to integrate environmental awareness more deeply into her EuroPeers involvement.
