The first creativity afternoon organized by “EuroPeers Latvia” has come to an end!

Amazing time spent in Latvia, informing young people about opportunities in the EU.

On March 19, 2024, the “EuroPeers” youth network coordinated by the International Youth Program Agency, in cooperation with VSIA “Rīgas Tūrisma un radošās industrijas tehnikumu” (Riga Tourism and Creative Industry Technical College), created an event for young people “EuroPeers creativity afternoon”. The theme of the event is “The opportunities offered by the European Union for young people and the national dishes to be tasted there”. The event was attended by 28 young people who are interested in getting to know the types of non-formal education projects of the European Union program “Erasmus+” or “European Solidarity Corps” and spend a meaningful and high-quality afternoon together with other like-minded young people!

Each participant of the event had the opportunity to learn about the opportunities offered by the Youth International Programs Agency to participate in the informal education programs of young people, as well as to cook 3 national dishes from the countries where the “EuroPeers” young people themselves have been – Portugal and Portuguese Pastel de nata, Germany and German potato salad and Finland – Finnish rice pudding. During the event, in an informal environment, while preparing, each participant got involved in conversations about the projects experienced by EuroPeers young people, as well as in the conversations they got to know the possibilities of the college for further professional career choices.

At the end of the event, everyone could taste the food they had prepared, and after the event, informative booklets with prepared recipes and additional information about the opportunities offered by the European Union for young people were distributed to each young person.

We are very grateful to VSIA “Rīgas Tūrisma un radošās industrijas tehnikums” (Rīgas Tourism and Creative Industry Technical College), who provided the opportunity to be in their training rooms/kitchens and cooking specialists – cooks for their support and guidance, allowing us all to learn something new!
Thank you to the association “Siera klubs” for the opportunity to provide the necessary dairy products, supporting the desire of young people to organize a master class and participate in the practical co-creation of young people, in order to ensure the opportunity for young people to become aware of the development of cooking and cooking.
Thanks to Mark for the idea of a creativity afternoon, Erika and Normund for their involvement and support by sharing their “Erasmus+” or “European Solidarity Corps” experience stories!
