Global Emotional Learning

I was in the middle of my class when two volunteers, from a local organisation KERIC, opened the door of my class. They handed out leaflets, inviting us to join their Youth Exchange. I thought to myself, “why not” and signed up. And they picked me. That’s how i ended up in front of the organisation at 10pm, getting my things into a bus with 40 other people. This was my first project and since it wasn’t too far, I managed to stay quite calm. I clicked with everyone in an instant. Latvians, Slovak, Italians, Portuguese… We all became a family for a week. Activities such as Art Therapy, Chair Game, Timeline helped me get a closer look at my own personality and what influences me and people around me. The nights around the fire, late night deep talks and cooking on the intercultural nights helped me connect with others and form a bond, that I’ve never had with anyone. Going for trips, hikes, walks put the whole project together. It was the best first experience I could’ve had.
