RE:CONNECT
A Youth Exchange that changed my view of the world
This was the beginning of a long 24 hour bus drive to Riga. I wasn’t sure of what to expect at first, since this was the first project that I’ve been to that was so far from home. Not really knowing anyone at first, other than a couple conversation we’ve held via WhatsApp, I got going. After arriving to Riga with all 14 participants and our 2 leaders, we got on a bus to the location of the project. So many people were already waiting for us and they all greeted us warmly. And that was how it started, a youth exchange “RE:CONNECT”. The topic was “reconnect with ourselves, the nature and others” which hit my mind deeply. A lot of those little habits we’ve gained during those projects such as morning exercise, keeping a journal and keeping somewhat of a schedule, helped me to learn to deal with my stress a lot. Now i couldn’t be happier, I’m always calm and collected. Some of the activities included dancing barefoot on the grass, blindfolded, just feeling the rhythm and connecting with everything around you. Another we should mention was hugging trees, creating mandalas and listening to the nature. Night conversations with the people who had entered my heart in those couple days that we’ve spent in Ineši. Dancing in the rain and laughing tons all had a great impact on my mental health. I’m truly thankful for everyone, participants and facilitators for making this project happen.
